Hayden Panettiere actually paid cash money out of her own pocket to purchase the dress she wore to the Golden Globe Awards. *gasp* (That’s the dress in the pictures above – for reference.) Some news outlets actually called this a “Golden Globes controversy” and a “fashion faux pas.” For reals.

Asked by Giuliana Rancic what she was wearing on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the Nashville actress replied, “Tom Ford. It’s the first time I’ve ever worn him, because I’ve been begging…I feel sexy in it, I feel comfortable in it, and I’m in Tom Ford. I would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him.”

Not long after, journalist Jim Shi tweeted, “Tom Ford confirms to me he ONLY dressed #NaomiWatts tonight. Hayden Panettiere BOUGHT her Tom Ford dress at RETAIL. Tsk, tsk.”

Tsk, tsk, indeed. Buying your own dress right off the rack? This, this right here, is why people hate America and why we need to do away with all awards shows – immediately.

Instagram has opened up a whole new world for beautiful women to get noticed. Instead of having to hire a PR firm, they now can just post their pictures on the Internet and people will follow them. Today we take a look at one such woman in Mariah Lee Bevacqua.

The other day a picture of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander at a Flyers hockey game got everyone abuzz about whether they were dating again. The answer to that question has some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first? Let’s start with the good news – good news is always better to go first, softens the blow of the bad news.

A source close to the buxom model explains that “Kate and Justin are not back together” and that the athlete asked for Upon to visit him before he underwent surgery. “She wanted to be there for him,” the source added.

Verlander was in Philly to get surgery for a core muscle injury.

Now the bad news. They are still good enough friends for something like this to happen. She wanted to be there for him? They’re totally going to backslide at some point.

Kate Upton and Justin Verlander Are Not Dating Again Despite Recent Outing Together [E!]

Seeing Uma Thurman presenting at this year’s Golden Globes reminded us of two things: (1) Uma Thurman still exists, and (2) she still looks damn good. So today we take a look back at the many reasons we became big fans of hers and why we still are today.

Hard to believe, but it was in 1988 that she first burst on to America’s radar in the film Dangerous Liaisons. And even harder to believe than that is that she became a permanent fixture in our collective consciousness way back in 1994 when she starred in Pulp Fiction. Films like Beautiful Girls, Batman & Robin (loved us some Poison Ivy), The Avengers, and then her penultimate role as The Bride in Kill Bill: Volumes 1 & 2 continuously left us wanting more Uma. (Uma, Oprah. Oprah, Uma.)

Sadly that last film was made in 2004 and we haven’t seen much of her since. Sure she’s appeared in 14 movies since then, but see if you can name three. (Hint: One was Movie 43 and we know how that worked out.)

The good news? Uma is going to be appearing in one of the more eagerly anticipated films of 2014, Nymphomaniac starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, and Shia LaBeouf, which will be released in two parts on March 21 and April 18 of this year. More good news? There are rumors of a Kill Bill: Volume 3 supposedly in the works as well.

Recently she also partnered up to open a new restaurant and bar in Beverly Hills called Carson House. Cross another celebrity female fantasy girlfriend off the list as it’s being reported that Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are now engaged. 2014 is not being very kind to our ability to pretend that we actually have a shot with these women.
